Tim and Shelley Hunter, Innkeepers

We have owned and operated the Bitterroot River B&B since September of 2005.

We purchased the home with the intention of making it into a B&B, but we thought it was important for each guest room to have a bathroom of it's own.  Before we started that project, our first project was to finish off a bedroom for ourselves on the lower level of the home. Once we had a place to rest our heads, we headed to the upstairs guest area where we added two new bathrooms and re-modeled the two existing baths. Each of the four guest bedrooms now has it's own private bathroom. Shelley has done a beautiful job decorating each room with it's own distinctive style.

Have you always been Innkeepers?

Tim is semi-retired from a 30-year career in the operation and management of water and wastewater treatment facilities.  He still does some consulting work, but now is the primary innkeeper, doing all of the cooking and most of the cleaning and other duties at the B&B.

Shelley works a 40-hour week at her job in Missoula. The commute adds a couple of hours to her work day, so she helps at the B&B as much as her schedule allows.  Shelley is also an accomplished artist.  Watercolors are her favorite medium and her artistic flair is evident throughout the B&B.
B&B Guest testimonials

"We would like to thank you for your great hospitality during our stay at your beautiful place. Tim was so kind to carry pots and pots of coffee to get our eyes open in the morning. After reaching St. Mary's Peak, we will continue our journey."
Panu & Marianna - Helsinki, Finland

"Thank you for the hospitality, the delicious breakfasts, the lovely room, the incredible white-capped mountains, the peace in the rustle of the hay in the hours sitting by the gentle home of the river (and of course, the adorable doggie). We'll surely return."
Craig and Vladena - Portland, Oregon
